Freight Cargo Insurance to Rise

For any business reliant on deliveries, transportation from suppliers, haulage companies and the like, freight insurance is a cost that must be bared.

Freight and haulage insurance costs  have been on the increase recently, due to a higher number of claims for truck thefts, the stealing of goods  - mostly organised crime groups with insider knowledge of truck routes, haulage and the main logistics itinerary.

A friend of mine used to run a gift business and his supplier experienced a major theft of a huge haul of toys and gifts.   He had taken pre orders from a high volume of existing and new customers and was quickly thrown into a panic over the possibility of losing thousands of pounds of orders.    On investigation by the authorities it was found that this was an inside job. The lorry driver and a group of seemingly estranged thieves  stopped the lorry on a minor road route and proceeded to acquire the whole load of kids toys, destined not to end up at the foot of many kids Christmas tree via the intended route, but probably up for sale on ebay. They evidently escaped and hastily relegated themselves to obscurity, but where later caught and arrested on the aforementioned charges.

Security of your goods is paramount when choosing a road haulage company or participating in a freight exchange contract. International freight on-line freight exchange agency such as www.logintrans.ie make it their priority to ensure all risk factors are verified and covered; for example  index of financial credibility and credit risk with a given company, do they have a reliability carrier certificate?
